Cancer patients taking to the catwalk

Breast cancer patients past and present treated at Leeds General Infirmary will take to the catwalk next month for a gala fund-raising evening on Saturday, October 23, at the Queens Hotel in Leeds.

The WOW Fashion Show is being organised by Breast Cancer Research Action Group (BCRAG), a charity run by Leeds patients and supporters to raise money for breast cancer research at Leeds Teaching Hospitals. October is also designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

All the models taking part either have had, or are having, treatment in the Breast Care Unit in the Clarendon Wing at the LGI.

The evening will be compered by BBC Radio Leeds presenter Liz Green and will include a drinks reception, three-course meal, live entertainment and dancing until the early hours.

Clothes, accessories, hair and make-up featured will come from Debenhams at the White Rose Shopping Centre, Oops and Downs at Horsforth, and from Clinique.

"This fashion show is an amazing personal achievement for everyone taking part," said BCRAG founder Margaret Stead. "All the ladies will be showing that this disease can be beaten and how important it is to celebrate looking and feeling good."

Tickets are on sale now at 40 each. Contact the Fundraising Office at the LGI on 0113 392 6803 or email sharon.edwards@leeds
