From darkest Peru to Wombwell: First edition Paddington book to raise funds for hospice

Now Paddington Bear is helping a South Yorkshire hospice continue its vital work.
A first edition reprint of Michael Bond’s A Bear Called Paddington, published in 1959, has been donated to Rotherham’s Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and will be put up for auction on eBay at 9pm on Thursday. Donated in person at the hospice’s shop in Wombwell, the book will help to raise valuable funds for the charity that supports children and young adults with life-shortening and life-threatening conditions.
Bluebell Wood’s Sue Brown said: “This is a rare chance to own an original piece of his history. We’re delighted that someone thought of us when the time came to give it away.”
