Designer's signature style gives brand a new lease of life

Ben de Lisi, who has taken over the creative helm of Principles at Debenhams, aims to take the brand back to its roots and to what it does best.

The Leeds store says it has been inundated with inquiries about the return of Principles, and this new launch range features 106 items of weekend, smart day, occasion and eveningwear, as well as 46 pieces in petites, all complemented by handbags and accessories, each with Ben de Lisi's unique style handwriting.

"We have moved the brand back to what it's celebrated for; timeless, modern collections that have fashionability, but we've added a designer twist. The price position is slightly lower than before, and the quality and style of each garment is fantastic – I think women will love it," says Ben de Lisi.

"The Principles brand was famous for its great value, classic fashion looks and there has definitely been a gap on the High Street since it disappeared," says Stephen Marsay, store manager at Debenhams Leeds.

"When we announced we were relaunching it with Ben de Lisi, we received hundreds of requests from discerning women keen to get their hands on the details.

"Now it's finally here and there's a real sense of intrigue and anticipation – we're expecting it to be a huge sell- out."

Further collections will be designed for autumn-winter 2010.
