After attending a successful audition in Manchester, nine year old Freya, who lives in Liversedge, secured the role of Tanya, one of Joe’s peers.

During filming Freya had the opportunity to learn from the star studded cast and was thrilled to work with some of her acting heroes.

Freya said: “Acting in The A Word was an amazing experience. Being a Doctor Who fan it was fantastic acting with Christoper Eccleston.

“I had a lot of my scenes with Julie Hemonsdalgh - although the main one was cut because they didn’t have enough time in the episode for it.

“We’re super proud of her achievement in gaining the role and carrying out the filming work with such professionalism.

“Over the last four years, so many of our students and families have gained fond memories of filming for The A Word.

“In fact our office walls have a whole section dedicated to pictures of filming The A Word - including the day when nearly 30 children almost got snowed in on location in the middle of the lake district.”
