Food Matters: Fodder hopes to taste success

Fodder, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society's food hall, has been shortlisted for three national food awards. They are a BBC Food and Farming Award as Best Retail Initiative, The Butcher's Shop of the Year Awards and The Observer Food Monthly Best Independent Retailer award.

Fodder, based near the YAS showground in Harrogate, is the UK's first fully charitable food hall, with all profits reinvested in helping the rural community in the North of England. Fodder's managing director Heather Parry says: "While it's great to win awards, Fodder's real aim is to benefit the rural community. Last year our local sourcing policy injected 1.9m into Yorkshire's economy."
