Food Matters: Looking at diet needs in later life

A Yorkshire chef has joined forces with local care provider, Westward Care, to put the spotlight on nutrition.

Brian Turner attended the opening of the new Headingley Hall Apartment development in Leeds. Brian believes that not enough attention is paid to altering diet in later life. He said: "It's always struck me as rather odd that few of us think about changing our own diets as we get older. Being less active, we need to reduce our energy intake; we need to eat to boost our immune systems; and we need to take into account the dietary demands of any medical conditions we may develop."

City's taste of victory in curry award

Narrowly pipped by Glasgow to the overall crown of Curry Capital of Britain, the bid presented by Bradford helped to secure the city second place and title as England's Curry Capital.

Peter Groves, Curry Capital of Britain competition organiser, said: "Bradford presented the most creative bid out of all the cities, drawing on several aspects of the city to fully illustrate the impact curry houses and their culture have on the region and their local community.
