Food Matters: New owners for famous pie shop
Established in 1867, Appleton's has been with the Gaunt family since 1920, and when owner Roger was approaching his retirement, the hunt for suitable successors began.
Perfect candidates were found in Anthony Sterne and Leigh Hughes, owners of successful local gourmet pie company, i's Pies.

A taste of Italy in Helmsley
Helmsley-based Thomas the Baker are launching a range of authentic Italian breads – The Rustica – packed with all the freshness and flavour of the Mediterranean, so customers can now enjoy a "delizioso" taste of Italy.
The Rustica range is baked at Thomas's family bakery in Helmsley, North Yorkshire, using authentic Italian flour specially imported from Rome.
The Thomas family originally started the bakery in their garage, and have now expanded Thomas the Baker to more than 30 shops across Yorkshire.
World Cup chocolates

Hide AdIn the build-up to the World Cup in South Africa, Yorkshire cake maker Diana Kinghorn will be producing unique chocolate World Cups to celebrate the sporting festival.
All her hand-made chocolates are produced on site in the Cakes By Diana shop in Ilkley, but during the build-up to the World Cup Diana will also be producing chocolate whistles and mini chocolate World Cups, which can be decorated with names and chosen colours of ribbon.
