Fun fun fun till daddy takes the Range Rover away! Beach Boys play York Racecourse

The Sixties surfers, who have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, will take to the stage after the day’s racing on Friday July 25, the opening day of the popular Music Showcase Weekend.

Tickets for the evening’s racing followed by the open-air concert went on sale today.

James Brennan, head of marketing and sponsorship at York Racecourse, said: “The Beach Boys have provided the soundtrack to the summer with hits like California Girls, Help Me Rhonda and I Get Around; so there is a real treat in store for racing and music fans alike.”

The group, fronted by co-founder Mike Love, will play on a giant trackside stage after the final race has finished. They join a summer line-up which also includes Wet Wet Wet.

The Beach Boys line-up also includes Bruce Johnston, who along with Christian Love, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten, have toured as the Beach Boys since 1998 when co-founder Carl Wilson died. Original members Brian Wilson, Al Jardine and David Marks are not part of the York line-up.
