A NEW fitness programme for adults has been launched in Leeds. CWM Health (formally Carnegie Weight Management) have launched a flagship programme for adults; CWM BootCamp.

For the last 20 years, CWM Health, led by Professor Paul Gately, has researched and developed weight management programmes for children aged two to 17 and their families. The launch of the BootCamp programme is designed for adults to kick start a fitness regime before Christmas. More programmes will be available in the New Year.

Bootcamp is suitable for everyone – whether you are trying to lose weight or just tone up.

Star guest for service of thanks

GIRLS Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh has confirmed her attendance at the Leeds Haven's annual Advent Thanksgiving Service, which takes places on Tuesday, November 30, at Leeds Parish Church.

The event, in its second year, will see around 400 guests enjoy an evening of celebration and music sung by members of the Leeds Parish Church Choir and soprano Alexandra Lowe. The Girls Aloud singer is the Haven's Celebrity Ambassador. All proceeds go to the Haven.

Charity up for national award

The Leeds service of the national charity for people with learning disabilities and their families, Hft, has been shortlisted

for the Laing & Buisson Independent Specialist Care Awards 2011. The prestigious national awards recognise exceptional contributions

by teams and individuals in their fields of work.

The charity's team in Leeds has been selected in the Personalisation category of the awards for its work in creating the Love2MeetU friendship and dating agency, supporting people with learning disabilities to develop and sustain friendships and relationships within their communities and to extend their social networks.

The team will present to judges in January next year, with the winner to be announced during a Gala Dinner at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, on March 15, 2011.

"We are delighted to have reached the shortlist for this high profile care award", said Brian Perowne, chief executive of Hft.
