Hairdressers at the cutting edge

Last night, as we went to press, Yorkshire's most artistic and ambitious hairdressers gathered at Saviles Hall, Leeds, in a bid to win the L'Oréal Professional Colour Trophy 2010, now in its 55th year.

Each of the 39 competing teams had just 30 minutes to merge their understanding of high fashion with their appreciation of wearable style, reflecting catwalk trends in both fashion and hair.

The style stakes are high and only the strongest survive as just five teams move on to the grand final, at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London, on June 28, 2010.

New for 2010, this year's overall winner for The L'Oral Professional Colour Trophy and L'Oral Professional Men's Image Award will experience an unparalleled prize of "A Year of Dreams" with a tailor-made calendar of opportunities

that will help them take their talent and their business to the next level.

"The regional finals are overflowing with talent and skill," says hairdresser Richard Ward.

"The pressure is on and time is limited, so competitors need a clear vision of what they want to create and a super-organised team. It is always a high-energy event that highlights some of

the UK's most pioneering hairdressers."

We'll let you know who won next week.
