Health Matters: Concert boost for sufferers

A CONCERT is being held to raise funds for a teenage cancer unit in Hull.

Driffield Male Voice Choir will be performing at the Guildhall, in Hull, on Saturday, October 23, at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost 7 and proceeds will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust at Castle Hills Hospital.

At the moment, teenagers with cancer have to travel to Leeds for treatment.

Charity plea for fund-raisers

Marie Curie Cancer Care is issuing a plea for just two hours of your time to help out with their festive fund-raising

The cancer charity is inviting people from across West Yorkshire to assist with collections taking place at various supermarkets within the area.

As well as providing high quality home care to patients, Marie Curie nurses also give support to carers and families at what is a most difficult time. This service is provided free of charge and every 20 raised pays for one hour of nursing care in West

Yorkshire.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is also looking for willing volunteers to help co-ordinate collections, especially during the Great Daffodil Appeal, in March.

In the swim for Children in Need

TEACH your baby to swim while raising money for Children in Need.

On Monday, between 4pm and 6pm, at Frederick Holmes hydrotherapy pool,

in Hull, there's "An Introduction to Teaching your Baby to Swim" event.

It is a rare opportunity for parents with babies from birth up to five years of age, and will benefit Children in Need.

A voice for the carers

A YORKSHIRE charity is hoping to turn tenors into tenners at a fund-raising event designed to support the county's growing number of unpaid carers.

The Carers' Resource – which is based in Harrogate, Ripon, Bradford and Skipton – has helped more than 12,000 hidden heroes and heroines since its launch 15 years

ago.

The charity is to benefit from "An Evening with Ultimate Voice" when the Harrogate-based classical events company brings five artists to The Old Swan Hotel on Saturday, October 30.

Tickets for the event are 40 each and the price includes a four-course dinner.
