Health Matters: Pants in the Park

Golden pants will be invading Roundhay Park on Sunday, June 13, for Prostate UK's 5km charity fun run, "Pants in the Park".

Prostate UK funds both medical research into prostate disease and the training of healthcare professionals, vital in the fight against prostate disease which currently affects one in two men at some point in their life.

Steve's helping hand for charity

During his forthcoming tour, clairaudient Steve Holbrook, above, will be raising money for PACT, a Sheffield-based charity that helps terminally-ill children all over the country who have cancer and leukaemia. Steve, from Wakefield, has already raised 10,000 for the charity and over the last few years he has raised tens of thousands of pounds for local charities and his local hospice in Wakefield, together with 5,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support in 2007, Steve will be appearing at The Met Hotel, Leeds, on Wednesday, May 5. Banana boost for the heart

Eating bananas may reduce the risk of your arteries becoming furred up, which can be a cause of heart disease.

Two hours after researchers gave 20 healthy men and women a single banana, they found that blood levels of bad cholesterol had dropped.

The researchers, from China, say that bananas also seem to lower the risk of plaque building up on artery walls.
