The award recognised her lifetime achievement in developing wound care services in Bradford and her ongoing work to develop wound care as a national and international specialty.

Peter was awarded the Medilink Yorkshire and Humberside Beacon Award at the organisation's Healthcare Business Awards 2010 held in Leeds.

The Medilink Beacon Award acknowledges the outstanding contribution of an individual to the healthcare sector and was given to Peter, an internationally acclaimed wound care specialist and vascular surgeon, for his dedication to wound care.

In their acceptance speeches, the couple acknowledged the role of the other members of the multidisciplinary wound care team and their contribution to the success of the unit, recognising the on-going support they have received from both staff and patients.
