The English Music Festival commissioned the works from different composers, and has filmed performances of them in the church of St Mary and St Akelda, where Richard worshipped while he was resident at Middleham Castle.

The film will be presented next Thursday at 2pm, at an event which also includes an exhibition of documents relating to the period in which Richard administered the North from Middleham, on behalf of his brother, Edward IV. The event will precede the music festival itself, which is being held at Aysgarth Church on the weekend of October 6-8.

Middleham was known as the Windsor of the North during Richard’s reign.
