Out of the blue at Renishaw Hall

It's bluebell time, and Renishaw Hall, the home of the Sitwell family for nearly 400 years expects this year's extravaganza to be even more spectacular.

The bluebells cover nine acres in Broxhill Wood, to the west of Renishaw Hall's elegant Italianate gardens. They create the most amazing blanket of colour.

Broxhill has been woodland since records began and is marked on maps dating back as far as 1674. The wood has always had a carpet of bluebells, and many of the trees are 250-300 years old.

In addition to the bluebells, visitors will be able to see the magnificent Camellia Walk which has, again, never been better. It is flowering a month later than usual and is not normally at its best during Bluebell Fortnight.

Renishaw opens its gardens daily from 10.30am-4.30pm during bluebell time, which this year runs until May 9.
