Plant of the Week: Iberis sempervirens

This is Iberis sempervirens, or perennial candytuft. Sempervirens tells you that it's evergreen, so even when the starry white flowers have long gone, the foliage remains.

It's a useful plant to have in the garden – easy to grow, spreading slowly, flowering regularly from May-June, and even trailing over walls and down banks.

Basically, it's a bit of a cabbage because it belongs to the same family, but it's much more interesting.

It loves the sun and a well-drained soil, and if you dead-head, you'll get even more flowers.
