Post writer’s book accolade

YORKSHIRE POST cricket correspondent Chris Waters has gained one of sports writing’s most prestigious accolades.

Waters has won The Wisden Book of the Year for 2012 for his biography of former Yorkshire and England fast bowler Fred Trueman. Fred Trueman: The Authorised Biography, published by Aurum Press, was released last October to glowing reviews.

The Mail on Sunday’s Leo McKinstry described it as “one of the finest sports books of recent years”, while esteemed cricket author David Foot called it a “brilliant and unsparing portrait”.
