Seed appeal

It's appeal time – with a difference. Dyfi Valley Seed Savers (DVSS) is on the lookout for Welsh vegetable varieties.

The group has launched its Welsh Seed Search campaign, to unearth vegetable varieties that grow especially well in local conditions.

Now DVSS would like to hear from anyone who grows a favourite variety for which they save their own seed from year to year. If the variety is no longer available to buy, then you could have a rare veg in your garden.

Or maybe you have produced your own strain by some back-garden plant breeding? The project will bring together a collection of Welsh vegetable varieties, which will be made available for more growers to try.

DVSS aims to preserve the diversity of vegetable varieties to allow plentiful choice to future gardeners. For more information,
