Be it by broomstick, double-decker bus or donkey, Leeds audiences are set to be transported out of their seats with new shows, family favourites, comedies and dramas for October 2017 to December 2018.

To coincide with the launch of their new season brochure, Leeds Grand Theatre has gone on sale with a record 11 productions this month.

There really is something for everybody.

It starts with a Yorkshire theme, with three productions set in ‘Gods own county’, starting with the premiere of Kay Mellor’s Fat Friends The Musical, which arrives in November.

With original music and songs composed by Nicholas Lloyd Webber and starring Jodie Prenger, it stars Sam Bailey, Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff, Natalie Anderson, Natasha Hamilton and Kevin Kennedy.

The brand-new stage show reunites foodie friends in an original musical bulging with hopes, humour and heart.

Northern Ballet’s Jane Eyre will bring Charlotte Brontë’s ultimate tale of romance, jealousy and dark secrets to life in March, while August will see a return home to where it all began for Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s award-winning production, Calendar Girls The Musical.

Moving across the Pennines to Manchester then further south, the season also features The Band (March 2018), Nativity! The Musical (December 2017), and ART (April 2018).

Starring Five To Five, winners of BBC’s Let It Shine, The Band is a tale of what it’s like to grow up with a boy band - a new musical written by Tim Firth and featuring the music of Take That.

Christmas 2017 will feature Mr Maddens, Mr Poppy and the children of St Bernadette's Catholic school, Coventry as they struggle to make everyone’s Christmas wish come true inNativity! The Musical.

Travelling further afield, it’s all aboard the big red bus to join Cliff Richard and The Shadows on a joyous jaunt across Europe in Summer Holiday (July/August 2018).

If war-torn Berlin is the preferred destination, join Emcee and Sally Bowles in the Olivier-Award-winning musical Cabaret (October 2017).

Or travel to the coast of Denmark in December 2017 to see Northern Ballet’s The Little Mermaid; a young mermaid who is willing to give up everything for love and the desire to gain a human soul.

If a trip to America is top of the bucket list then prepare to let love lift you up with a visit to a US Naval Base to see An Officer And A Gentleman in April 2018.

Two Kings, Carole and Elvis, will entertain audiences later in the year in Beautiful – The Carole King Musical (May 2018) and This Is Elvis (June 2018). Minneapolis City Bank is the setting for The Comedy About A Bank Robbery (October 2018).

In November 2018 four young men from New Jersey will take audiences on a journey that follows their rise to fame as Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons in the internationally acclaimed stage sensation, Jersey Boys.

A trip to the land of make believe is promised. as Leeds Amateur Operatic Society (LAOS) presents an all new staging of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic Cats in April 2018 featuring an unforgettable score, including Memory.

Flying into Leeds in June 2018, WICKED tells the untold story of two young sorcery students and their adventures in Oz which will see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

And in December 2018, Shrek The Musical will follow the love-able Ogre, Donkey, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquaad and a host of fairy tale misfits in an all-singing, all-dancing, must-see musical comedy.
