Tribute hits the right note

Jamie Walton, of Appleton-le-Moors, will feature in a film about Britten’s suites for solo cello on Sky Arts tomorrow at 8pm.

The music is special to him because the pieces encouraged him to play again after he had considered giving up his career for personal reasons.

“After my father passed away whilst I was at the Royal Northern College of Music I had to focus on personal issues which meant that I couldn’t find the energy to concentrate on or pursue a musical career,” Mr Walton said.
