Those arriving at Leeds station were weighed down with camping gear, huge rucksacks and large quantities of warm, canned lager – but few were perturbed about the weather forecast for the days ahead.

The BBC forecast appeared the more pessimistic, predicting that on Friday Leeds would be hit by heavy rain and Saturday would be characterised by thundery showers.

There was good news for festival-goers and Yorkshire commuters after a union suspended a strike planned by TransPennine Express drivers.
