Well-dressed bedrooms are always in fashion

Along with my love for furniture I also love clothing and fashion, as you may have noticed from my column over the years. As much as I love coming home and putting on my cosiest clothes, when I'm out and about I like to look my best.

Looking after your clothes is essential, as they last so much longer, so it's important to choose storage that works for you.

Wardrobes don't always get the credit they deserve. After the bed I'd say they were the most important item in the bedroom – unless of course you are lucky enough to have a walk-in wardrobe, in which case I am very jealous.

In smaller rooms however getting the right wardrobe can be hard work. Finding something which a) fits, b) you like and c) has enough room for everything is a bit of a challenge.

White painted furniture is the way to go as it will give the illusion of taking up less space – mirrored white furniture is even better as it will reflect all the light in the room too.

Those with more space can opt for something large and extravagant. The Trio wardrobe is stunning with its smooth walnut and black glass. The two sliding doors mean that the wardrobe can easily be divided into his and her's sections or in my case – clothes and accessories! As well as the Ornans and Trio collections Barker and Stonehouse have a great selection of traditional wardrobes. My personal favourite is the Grosvenor range. There is something very soothing about the lovely dark mahogany wood.

Not only will this wardrobe look great, its part of the Trees-4-Trees range which means it's ethically sourced too.

To keep your clothes smelling nice you can invest in a lavender bag or lay dried lavender on the floor of your wardrobe to keep clothes smelling fresh. Plus, if your wardrobe is made from wood, make sure you give it a good polish every now and again to keep the wood looking great.
