FROM THE Leeds Festival which is welcoming music fans around the country to the splendour of country estates like Harewood House and the Leeds West Indian Carnival, there's no excuse to leave Yorkshire this Bank Holiday weekend because of the variety '“ and diversity '“ of public events.

Leeds Festival is one of the weekend's major events in Yorkshire.

A celebration of the county’s culture, there is – genuinely – something for everyone from national occasions to community activities.

Given that these gatherings, large and small, are onerous undertakings, it’s to be hoped they receive the level of support that they deserve.

There’s just one regret. What a shame that a combination of industrial action, and mismanagement, means people won’t be able to rely upon the train to get to get around on this big weekend for tourism.
