The Yorkshire Post says: An unlikely star as tributes paid to Vicar of Dibley actress Emma Chambers

THE warmth of tributes to Doncaster-born actress Emma Chambers after her death at the tragically early age of 53 revealed the high regard in which the unlikely star of TV's The Vicar of Dibley was held by her many fans and friends.

Even though she will be remembered for her portrayal of the non-plussed Alice Tinker opposite Dawn French’s Reverend Geraldine Granger in one of the few genuine comedies to be screened by the BBC, it required a special gift to deliver her lines with such perfect timing.

A character of beautiful innocence, she was the perfect foil to the more vivacious vicar played by the aforementioned French who said: “Emma was a very bright spark and the most loyal and loving friend anyone could wish for. I will miss her very much.”

And so, too, will everyone who was entertained by this Yorkshire actress who, prophetically, is only now getting the plaudits and recognition that her varied career truly deserved.
