Up to 15 jobs to go at telehealth company

Telehealthcare company Tunstall yesterday revealed that it planned to make up to 15 posts redundant at its Yorkshire-based operations.

The company is hoping to avoid compulsory redundancies at its site in Whitley Bridge, near Selby, by offering an enhanced voluntary package. Altogether, Tunstall employs around 600 staff at Whitley Bridge.

Simon Arnold, the managing director for UK & Ireland, said he saw a “very positive” future for the company, due to growing demand for its managed services.

In the year to the end of September, Tunstall’s revenue rose from £144m to £182m while earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased from £39m to £50m. EBITDA is expected to reach £57m in the year to December 2012.

Mr Arnold added: “It is always very disappointing when people leave us, particularly as we are such a close knit local community. However, the UK market for telehealth and telecare is changing. Our core mission of improving the outcomes for older people, and those with long-term needs will never change.”

The company has a total global workforce of around 2,000 people. Gil Baldwin, the chief executive said: “While it is always unfortunate to see people leave the organisation we are confident that we will continue to see growth over the UK and global territories and we remain committed to our UK manufacturing base.”
