Accountants launch new specialist VAT service

HPH Chartered Accountants, in Bootham, York, has appointed its first head of VAT services, Ian Spencer, who has more than 20 years' VAT experience, as an inspector with Customs & Excise and in private practice.

The move follows the firm's launch of a wealth management service this spring in an alliance with independent financial advisors, Pearson Jones.

Managing partner Philip Thake said: "We're delighted to continue the development of our practice with the launch of a specialist VAT service.

"We support many charitable and not-for profit organisations and non-recoverable VAT payments, which could be legitimately mitigated with the specialist expertise which Ian Spencer provides, can be a significant drain on charitable resources."

Ian Spencer will also hold VAT clinics and workshops in York and Harrogate.

HPH Chartered Accountants, which also has an office in Harrogate, has 27 staff and is one of North Yorkshire's oldest accountancy practices, founded in Coney Street, York, in 1898.
