Agency ‘back on track’ after overhaul

The company behind the Leeds, Live it, Love it slogan has undergone a restructuring after it was issued with a winding-up petition.

An Agency Called England, which is based in Leeds, closed its Kent office and installed a new management team in Leeds, while the management of its Birmingham office have also departed.

Mark Hall, head of digital, and Jamie Pearce, head of business development, have taken over daily responsibilities for the business.

Co-founder Alison Cawthorne has left the board but remains in an advisory capacity, and chief executive Tony Stanton is now focused on the business’s strategic growth.

In total, 13 staff were made redundant, primarily from the closure of the Kent office but also two in the Leeds office, which now employs 16 people.

The company is understood to have been issued with a winding up petition from an ex-landlord but it has managed to continue trading, although Mr Pearce said there are a few legal issues to conclude.

He added: “We have had a difficult few months but we are now back on track and focussing our efforts in Leeds and winning new contracts.” Mr Stanton was unavailable for comment.
