‘America seems stronger than European market’

David and Marie Rudkin, from Sheffield, have chosen two US funds for their ISAs: Threadneedle American and Neptune US Opportunities.

The retired sub-postmaster and beauty salon owner, aged 70 and 68, have been clients of AWDChase de Vere for over 10 years. Elizabeth Hastings at the firm recommended the funds to increase their exposure to the US as part of a balanced portfolio, usually suggesting 6-15 per cent.

“US brands are strong and America seems stronger than the European market,” says Marie. The couple have other US holdings in global funds but these are their first bespoke ones.

Apart from golf, which David plays most days, the couple have bought a holiday home in Beverley.
