Angels to fund Northern entrepreneurs

A new online business angels organisation for the North of England has been set up to bring together enterprising business people with high net worth individuals who want to invest in them.

Angel Groups – Yorkshire celebrated its launch event at law firm Clarion in Leeds when two aspiring entrepreneurs from the region pitched their product and proposition to 16 potential investors.

The brain-child of Martin Avison, the online platform will target wealthy investors.

The organisation will also support businesses by giving them access to R&D grant funding and R&D Tax Credits.

Mr Avison is managing director of Financial Pulse, which specialises in funding for high growth businesses.

The inaugural event saw pitches from Huddersfield-based MonitorGO, which makes personal alarms for the elderly, and Sheffield-based Pegasus AV Solutions, which has developed a swivelling TV rail for upmarket houses.
