Appointments: Academic to advise communication firm on its strategies in the education sector

A FORMER Leeds academic has joined educational communications specialists Words&Pictures as a board adviser.

Dr Brian Whittington, who was previously dean of organisational change at Leeds Metropolitan University, will advise senior managers at the Otley-based company on strategies in the education sector.

Dr Whittington, who was director of Leeds Business School and still holds the position of Emeritus Dean of the university, will also work with the company’s head of education on strategic development.

PwC has appointed Rich Hall to lead the development of the sustainability and climate change practice across the North.

Mr Hall was previously director of development at Co2Sense Yorkshire, Yorkshire Forward’s vehicle for delivering sustainable strategy and delivery.

Ian Cotterill joins the financial services arm of KPMG’s northern performance and technology practice as an associate director.

He left rival firm PwC to grow KPMG’s market share across the North in consultancy services developed to improve the performance of financial businesses.

HGV driver recruitment company Drivers Plus has made two appointments.

Andy Gardner and Jayne King have joined the Bradford-based company as sales and business development managers.

Mr Gardner previously worked at Impress Sport, a sports branding, events and PR company in Halifax. Miss King joins from Bridge Recruitment.

Patrick Booth has joined Simpson Millar’s clinical negligence department as a partner where he will divide his time between the firm’s Yorkshire offices in Leeds and Sheffield.

He was previously joint managing partner at Taylor Simpson & Mosley in Nottingham, where he was instrumental in establishing the firm’s medical negligence department.

Electrical manufacturer and distributor Hyco Manufacturing has recruited a new product development engineer to help expand its pioneering range of water and space heaters.

The Wakefield-based firm appointed Philip Walton, a former engineering apprentice at BAE Systems, to develop an innovative range of water and space heating equipment and hand dryers.
