Appointments: Accountants beef up their taxation team

Accountancy firm Sagars has strengthened its taxation team with two senior appointments.

Anne Morrison and Alison Hirst have joined the Leeds-based firm as a senior tax specialist and manager within the tax team respectively after previously working at companies including Grant Thornton and KPMG.

n Addleshaw Goddard has promoted Karen Sewell to the firm’s partnership.

She is part of the Leeds banking team and is one of six managing associates promoted this year across the firm’s three offices in Leeds, Manchester and London.

n Wakefield Area Business Against Crime, the public and private sector initiative designed to combat business crime within the Wakefield Metropolitan District, has appointed Steve Hunt as business crime manager.

The former police sergeant will be tasked with supporting the reduction of business crime rates throughout the district.

n Four property professionals have been promoted at estate agent Dacre Son & Hartley.

Paul Baxter has been appointed as a director whilst Richard Feather, Chris O’Mahony and James Wattrus have all been promoted to associate level.

The firm’s head office is based in Ilkley.

n Business law firm DWF has appointed commercial property lawyer Charles Jackson as a partner in its Leeds real estate team.

He has 13 years’ experience in the commercial property sector and has expertise in development, investment and property finance, with a particular focus on healthcare.

n Legal consultancy Inpractice UK has continued its expansion with the appointment of Andrew Taylor as a financial management consultant.

Mr Taylor is a former finance director of a number of law firms and has been advising professional service firms on financial and business management for over 20 years.

n Law firm Dickinson Dees has strengthened its private client team in Yorkshire with the appointment of solicitor Rowena Rogers to the firm’s wealth management department.

Ms Rogers, who studied at Cambridge University and York College of Law, joins Dickinson Dees from Harrowells solicitors in York.

n Home shopping channel High Street TV has appointed Kristian Haigh as its sales and marketing director.

Mr Haigh has relocated from Sydney to Harrogate with his family to take up the role

He was previously head of High Street TV’s business in Australia.

Jackie Lawson, based in Chesterfield, has more than 30 years’ experience as a solicitor and specialises in high net worth and complex financial matters together with legal problems involving children.

n Copper Dragon brewery has appointed Rick Pomfret to the position of sales manager.

Mr Pomfret, who will be based at the brewery’s Skipton headquarters, spent 24 years with Bass before becoming brewery manager with HB Clark in Wakefield in 2006.
