Appointments: Baker Tilly aims for smooth handover after naming office managing partner

Paul BYRNE has been appointed office managing partner of Baker Tilly in West Yorkshire following Richard King’s decision to leave the firm to join a client in a senior position.

Mr Byrne will assume the role with immediate effect, with Mr King remaining with the firm until the end of the year to ensure the smooth handover of all projects and existing client work. Mr Byrne joined Baker Rooke in 1977.

He will oversee Baker Tilly’s offices in Leeds and Saltaire, West Yorkshire.

Leeds-based law firm Clarion has strengthened its growing intellectual property (IP) practice with the appointment of Sophia Constantinidis as an associate.

She joins from DLA Piper’s Manchester office where she trained before going on to work in its IP team for two years.

Leeds-based full service marketing agency, Manifest Communications, has appointed Rebecca Douglas as PR director.

She joins from MCG PR, where she was associate director for four years. Her appointment is Manifest’s fourth in three months.

Law firm Gordons, which has offices in Leeds and Bradford, has appointed seven trainee solicitors. Joining the Leeds office for their first seat are Aron Shergill (personal law), James Kimberley (commercial property) and Nick McQueen (contentious personal law). First seat new arrivals at the Bradford office are Samantha Bell (corporate), Charlotte Nasey (personal injury), Imogen Randall (commercial property) and James Lilley (commercial litigation).

The Yorkshire Event Centre (YEC) team in Harrogate has been boosted by the arrival of Richard Moorhouse, who takes on the role of venue manager. He joins from a senior role at the Freedom Centre in Hull.

Business advisory firm Deloitte has announced the appointment of four directors in its restructuring services business in Yorkshire.

James Clark joined Deloitte as a graduate in 2001. He has spent more than 10 years in the North East restructuring services practice. Garry Clarke has spent the last 12 years working with businesses involved in transactions and operational restructuring.

Clare Boardman has been with Deloitte for 13 years. She has led a number of high profile restructurings.

Kris Shuttleworth has more than 10 years of restructuring experience.
