Appointments: Ernst & Young strengthens its team with new assistant director

Ernst & Young has further boosted its Leeds practice with the hire of assistant director Will Arnold. Mr Arnold joins the team from BTG McInnes Corporate Finance, a division of Begbies Traynor Group.

Lawyer Amar Rashid has become a partner in the Bradford office of Schofield Sweeney solicitors. Mr Rashid, who was named Professional of the Year in the Lloyds TSB Jewel Awards, is a banking and corporate specialist and has in recent years developed a business advisory practice. In 2005 he moved to the North West law firm Pannone.

Law firm Lee & Priestley is expanding its property litigation team after a rapid increase in its client base. Amir Mughal, who has previously worked at Walker Morris, Lovells and Irwin Mitchell, has joined the Leeds-based team as a solicitor and trainee Annie Hui will shortly qualify into a joint property/commercial litigation role.

Large format printers Digital Plus has a new sales team, strengthening ambitious plans to double the firm’s turnover in three years. Consultant Phil Lee has been appointed as sales director and will lead the new team and spearhead the strategy for growth. Recently employed, Mark Lazenby, is one of the new regional sales managers, and joins Ian Thomas, also regional sales manager, who has been with the company over six years.

Business and financial adviser Grant Thornton has appointed 12 graduates to join the firm’s offices in Leeds and Sheffield. This year’s intake includes four interns embarking on a 12-month training contract and one school leaver on an extended training programme. All 12 recruits were among 200 trainees from all over the country who attended a two-day national trainee induction event in London last month.

Ilkley Brewery has appointed Luke Raven, one of the founders of Sandinista bar in Leeds, as part of its plans to reach new markets with its craft ale. Brewery operative Luke will become involved in beer making at the Ashlands Road premises but he will also be tasked with increasing Ilkley Brewery’s online presence through its blog and social networks. In addition, Luke will be working alongside the Mary Jane brewers to develop craft-keg beer products.

Hitachi Capital Consumer Finance, which provides point-of-sale credit, has expanded its marketing team with the promotion of Gillian Brooks to marketing manager and appointment of James Wilson as marketing executive.

Ms Brooks has worked for Leeds-based Hitachi Capital for seven years.

Mr Wilson has joined from SICL in Leeds, where he was responsible for marketing and events management.
