Appointments: Green chief to target local authority energy markets

Law firm Walker Morris has appointed Stephen Cirell as a consultant to reinforce its renewables, energy and resources team. Mr Cirell, who was previously the lead director of the Green Cornwall Programme at Cornwall Council, will assist the Leeds-based firm in targeting the local authority energy and renewables market place.

Property consultancy Edward Symmons has appointed John Liddiment to head the Leeds office’s machinery and business assets team. Mr Liddiment, who has previously worked at Leeds-based auctioneers Weatherall Green & Smith and Eddisons, is joined by James Nield and David Swift, who take on the roles of associate partner and valuer respectively. Mr Nield relocated from Edward Symmons’ London office, while Mr Swift joins from online auction house Bidspotter.

Chartered surveyor Garness Jones has undergone a management shake-up. The Hull-based firm will be led by Dave Garness, a founder of the business, who becomes managing director. Industrial specialist Dale Gooderham, retail and leisure expert Simon Grainger and office and investment lead Paul White are all appointed associate directors. Colin Garvin, a director of Garness Jones for nearly three years, becomes director of professional services. Steve Jackson is appointed associate director.

The Leeds office of CBRE has established a new northern retail agency division which will be headed by James Fox. Previously based at CBRE’s West End office, he joins the Leeds team as associate director of retail agency.

Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has appointed Julian O’Neill as relationship director for the public sector in the North East within its corporate and institutional banking (CIB) team. Mr O’Neill, who will be based in Leeds, has worked at RBS for more than 30 years.

Kevin Mawer has joined BTG Global Risk Partners, part of specialist professional services organisation Begbies Traynor Group, as partner and head of its forensic insolvency investigations division based in Leeds. He was previously a director at KPMG in Leeds.

PwC has appointed Alyson Reeves as director to lead its financial services consultancy in the North, based in Leeds.

During her career, she has worked with organisations such as the Bank of England, FSA, Lloyds Banking Group and Centrica.
