Appointments: New associates for legal firm in raft of nationwide promotions

LAW firm Pinsent Masons has announced the promotion of 11 lawyers to the position of associate in Leeds. It is part of 44 associate promotions across its UK and international offices.

The new associates are Adrienne Davie, Alan Chan in corporate, Hannah Needle, Katherine Nightingale in tax, Hannah Pinsent and Rebecca Wilcock in banking and restructuring, Jenny Wilson in employment, Robert Lawrence in pensions, Ella Ryder and Keith Shaw in property and Oliver Beaulah in commercial.

One of the country's leading legal specialists on fraud in the health service has joined law firm Ward Hadaway, which has an office in Leeds. Mark Heath joins Ward Hadaway's healthcare team as a partner. Ward Hadaway has also bolstered its commercial property team with the recruitment of solicitor Joanne Milne. She joins the firm from Jacksons Solicitors on Teesside.

Deloitte has expanded its financial services practice in Leeds with the addition of two partners and a director. The decision sees corporate tax specialist Sue Holmes promoted to partner; she leads the financial services tax practice in the North, advising on a wide variety of tax issues for retail banks, building societies, insurers and investment and wealth management in businesses. Kate Hayes has been promoted to director and Andy Todd, a tax specialist in the insurance sector, is now working out of the firm's Leeds office to strengthen the team further. The financial services team is further strengthened by David Heaton being promoted to partner in Manchester.

A new senior partner to lead business development in West Yorkshire has been appointed by Yorkshire Bank. Paul Grace will lead Yorkshire Bank's West Yorkshire Business Development team. supporting its Bradford-based West Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) and Leeds FSC.

Professional services firm Grant Thornton has attracted two new recruits from the Big Four financial firms. Peter Gomersall has taken the role of senior manager in employer solutions at Grant Thornton, specialising in PAYE/NIC in both compliance and cost reduction after leaving his role as a senior manager in the Human Resource team at PwC. Joanne Powell has also moved to Grant Thornton after spending nine years at KPMG's corporate tax department to take on a management role in the corporate tax team at Grant Thornton.

Leeds-based law firm Shulmans has made three appointments. Rebecca Dibb has been offered a full-time contract as a solicitor, The firm has also appointed two trainees, Louise Golden and Mark Bramley.

Leeds-based Resource, the supplier of business support services, has appointed Andy Vaughan as managing director of its UK business. Mr Vaughan joins resource from Sodexo, where he held a number of key roles before becoming strategy and planning director for the UK and Ireland. In his new role, Mr Vaughan will provide leadership for the UK business and focus on delivering group strategy and enhancing delivery to UK clients.
