Appointments: New partner for law firm's private-sector team

Public-sector lawyer Karen Andrews has joined law firm Ward Hadaway.

She joins from law firm Trowers & Hamlins and has worked on more than 1bn worth of public/private partnership projects across the country, including major housing and education schemes in Sheffield and Hull and a schools project in Barnsley and the East Riding.

She joins Ward Hadaway as a partner in the firm's fast-growing public-sector team and will be based at the firm's Leeds office.

Leeds, York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce has bolstered its employment and skills team with the appointment of Ian McGregor-Brown .

Mr McGregor-Brown joins on secondment from Leeds Trinity University College in a specially-created role which involves building closer links with the region's businesses and universities.

He will also support the Leeds Skills Board with strategic advice and planning.

Craig Starkey has been appointed strategic development leader at hygiene product manufacturer Kimberly-Clark.

In his new role he will be involved in developing the strategic plan for the Barton plant, supporting the delivery of a number of projects and ensuring that employees have the skills required to meet the challenges of the market.

Mr Starkey joined Kimberly-Clark 17 years ago and has worked as a lean manufacturing coordinator for the past year.

Brand communications agency Clearsilver has appointed Sam Ward as PR and events account manager.

She joins the Leeds firm after spending two years delivering the local press, marketing and events strategy for Harvey Nichols in Leeds.
