Appointments: Senior counsel promoted to partner at law firm

Law firm Dickinson Dees has promoted Claire Brook to partner at its York office. She joined the firm as senior counsel in 2009 and will take up a role as partner and head of the planning team this month.

Exchange Chambers has continued its expansion in Leeds with the arrival of criminal barrister Andrew Petterson as its latest member. Mr Petterson, who was called to the Bar in 2004, joins Exchange Chambers from 37 Park Square Chambers in Leeds.

Nick Scull, head of tax at Yorkshire accountants Garbutt & Elliott, has been appointed chairman of the UK tax working party of European accountancy organisation Praxity. He has been a director of Garbutt & Elliott, which has offices in York and Leeds, since 2007. Mr Skull has also been appointed as a director on the board of the York Professionals, a members’ organisation.

DLA Piper has promoted 20 fee earners in its Leeds and Sheffield offices. Robert Smith and John Connor from the Leeds finance and projects team have both been promoted to partner after joining the firm in 2000 and 2002 respectively. Paul Routledge has become legal director in the Leeds corporate law department and in Sheffield, Suzanne Wilkinson and Paul Smith have both been promoted to legal director in the insurance and litigation and regulatory teams. In addition, 15 lawyers across both offices have been promoted to associate from a number of areas.

The Sheffield office of law firm Nabarro has expanded its commercial disputes resolution team with the appointment of George Lubega. Mr Lubega, formerly a partner at Pinsent Masons, acts for corporate clients and government departments on a range of domestic and international disputes.

Addleshaw Goddard has appointed Philip Goodstone to the role of divisional managing partner (DMP) of its corporate division. He has been at the firm, which has an office in Leeds, for 14 years.

Wrigleys Solicitors in Leeds has boosted its charities and social enterprise team. Sylvie Nunn and Sue Greaves have both been promoted to partner. In addition, Sue King joins the team from Hethertons as a specialist charities employment lawyer.

Bupa Care Services, based in Leeds, has promoted Tracey Fletcher, formerly regional director North, to the new post of customer services director. Richard Jackson fills the position of regional director North. He joins from Care UK where he held the position of managing director, specialist care services. Rhona McLeod has been appointed regional director for the South East and Anglia. She was previously chief executive of NHS Commissioning Support for London.
