Appointments: Taxing new role as director at Deloitte

Property tax specialist Matt Smith has joined Deloitte as director after 10 years with KPMG.

He joins the tax depreciation team at the Leeds-based firm

Deloitte has built up one of the largest tax depreciation teams in the country comprising 50 experts at nine locations.

In March, Deloitte completed a merger with property consultancy Drivers Jonas, further strengthening its expertise in the property sector. The creation of Drivers Jonas Deloitte, which has offices in Leeds, provides an additional 700-strong specialist team to Deloitte's real estate advisory business.

Director Chris Bown has joined Ernst & Young to expand the firm's pension offering in Yorkshire.

He will lead the actuarial arm of the pension practice in Yorkshire.

Mr Bown has relocated from London where he played a key role in building the firm's pension team from scratch to around 30 people in just over two years. The team focuses on advising corporates on controlling costs and risks resulting from their pension plans, and in providing pensions expertise in corporate transactions.

Jamie Burles is already in post with the North of England train operator, where his remit includes revenue development, marketing and communications, customer service, estates management and procurement.

Home care services provider Domus Healthcare (East Riding) has appointed Kimberley Spauls as business manager.

The Hessle-based company employs 110 staff and provides more than 2,000 hours of care per week to East Riding Local Authority and private customers.

Ms Spauls joins the company with four years' experience in the healthcare industry. She was branch manager for a Grimsby-based home care provider and previously owned and managed her own company.

John Marshall, head of the commercial disputes group at law firm Dickinson Dees, has been appointed as the new senior partner.

A formal ballot took place when Mr Marshall was appointed to the role of senior partner, bringing with him his current role as risk and compliance partner.

Mr Marshall took over the three-year post on April 1 from Robin Bloom who leaves the York-based firm at the end of March to join the Gibson O'Neill Group.

Gavin Colclough, director of Rotherham-based Horbury Building Systems, has taken on the presidency role at the Federation of Plastering and Drywall Contractors (FPDC).

Mr Colclough's role will include promoting best practice, excellence and professionalism in plastering, drylining and associated trades, ensuring that member companies are recognised as more than a commodity in the construction field.
