Appointments: Three bring their skills to food sector

The National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing and Improve, the food and drink sector skills council, have made three new appointments.

Bryony Olney has joined York-based National Skills Academy as a network development manager. For the last nine years, she has worked for UFI Learn Direct, an e-learning provider. Will Bales joins York-based Improve as assistant brand manager from Young's Seafood in Grimsby where he was a marketing assistant. Sukky Jassi has been appointed as head of research and sector insight for Improve. She joins from the Policy Research Institute where she was a senior research fellow.

Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions has appointed Bob Marsden as the company's new director of people and organisational development.

Mr Marsden will be responsible for developing a strategy to help plan and deliver the people, resources, systems and processes vital to the success of the Sheffield-based business. He previously worked at EDF Energy as a member of the executive team.

Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets has continued to expand its South and East Yorkshire team with the appointment of Adam Barraclough to the role of relationship director.

Mr Barraclough, who will be based in the bank's Sheffield office, re-joins the company having previously worked for Bank of Scotland until mid-2009. His appointment takes the number of relationship focused staff across the region to 19. He will form part of the team responsible for supporting businesses in Sheffield and South Yorkshire with turnovers of over 15m.

York Council has strengthened its new renaissance team with the appointment of Bob Sydes as heritage renaissance officer.

Mr Sydes will work closely with architect Guy Hanson, and council officers to develop an integrated approach to the long-term planning of York. He previously worked in archaeological/heritage advisory roles with Cambridgeshire, Bath and North Yorkshire councils.
