Arena Leisure’s 2012 profit to get Olympics boost

UK’s largest racecourse operator Arena Leisure has won a catering contract for the 2012 London Olympics, which is expected to boost its profit.

The company, which would provide catering services at two venues for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012, said its 2012 net profit contribution from the contract would be £0.5m to £1m.

For the six months ended June, the company, which owns Doncaster Racecourse, had posted an adjusted pretax profit of £1.2m, compared with £0.9m in the year-ago period.

Arena, which supplies catering services across each of its seven racecourse venues, established its own catering business in 2007.

Arena shares, which have shed 11 per cent in value in the past three months, closed at 26.75 pence yesterday on the London Stock Exchange.
