Asda chairman Andy Bond leaves after nine months

Andy Bond, part-time chairman of Asda, has stepped down after nine months in the role.

Mr Bond took on the role last April when he stepped down as chief executive of the Leeds-based supermarket group, to be replaced by Andy Clarke.

He will also leave Walmart, the US retail group that owns the UK's second biggest supermarket by market share, once its $2.4bn deal to acquire a majority stake in South Africa's Massmart is complete, which is expected to be around the end of March.
