ATH on track with new Scottish site

DONCASTER-based coal producer ATH Resources today revealed that it planned to start work on a development in Scotland later this summer.

ATH Resources announced that progress in opening up the group’s next development, Duncanziemere in East Ayrshire, is on schedule with excavations due to start in early August.

The group also reported that volumes of heat affected coal at its Netherton site have declined as operations move away from the initial excavation area.

The group said it had identified a market for most of the heat affected coal.

The trading statement added: “Following the recent planning success of Glenmuckloch East in Dumfries and Galloway last month, the group’s application for an extension at the Muir Dean site in Fife is due before Fife planning committee in autumn 2011. The group will update the market on the result of this application in due course.

“Expectations of trading performance for the full year are in line with the update given in the interim results on June 14 2011.”
