Autoglass joins ITM's clean fuel project

ITM Power, the energy storage and clean fuel company, said that windscreen repair company Autoglass is to join its Hydrogen On Site Trials.

The trials are testing Sheffield-based ITM's new clean fuel technology, the transportable high pressure refueling unit (HFuel).

The HFuel unit was built with support from the Technology Strategy Board and was launched in September.

Autoglass, part of the world's largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company, is the leading operator in the UK serving 1.5 million motorists each year.

It has a fleet of 1,600 vehicles operating from 101 branches throughout the UK.

ITM's chief executive Graham Cooley said: "I am delighted to welcome Autoglass to the HOST scheme as another important light commercial fleet operator recognises the value in our clean fuel proposition.

"The value in decarbonising light commercial fleets will become more of an economic decision as oil prices continue to rise and carbon based taxes and charges are introduced."
