Barclays names new corporate co-head in northern shake-up

BARCLAYS has appointed Debbie Mullen as its new co-head of corporate banking in Yorkshire.

Ms Mullen, who was previously corporate director for Barclays in North Yorkshire, replaces Lee Collinson and will jointly lead the Yorkshire team with Chris Forrest, looking after business customers typically with a turnover in excess of £5m.

Lee Collinson, after seven years of heading up Barclays’ corporate team in Yorkshire, now takes up the newly created role of head of key clients for the North of England.

In this role he will be leading a team across the Northern region responsible for dealing with listed and larger private clients with a turnover greater than £250m.

Elsewhere, York-based Aptamer Solutions, which develops molecular devices known as aptamers for use in life-sciences research, has added a world-leading authority on aptamer technology to the team. Dr David Bunka joins Aptamer Solutions as chief technical officer from his previous role at the University of Leeds.

Leeds cloud computing specialist virtualDCS has welcomed Peter Bowers into the position of sales director. Mr Bowers has more than 15 years of sales experience and prior to working at virtualDCS has held several positions including new business development manager for ICM and director of Everything Data Centres.

Meanwhile, law firm Dickinson Dees has announced a key promotion to associate at its Leeds office. Construction lawyer Vicky McCombe has become an associate in the construction team.

And the firm has expanded its real estate team in Leeds and London with the appointments of David Cole and Paul Hunter.

Mr Cole and Mr Hunter, both from North Yorkshire, have joined Dickinson Dees as solicitors from Pinsent Masons in Leeds.
