‘Big Four’ firm moves to new city HQ

ERNST & Young marked its move to new offices on Hull’s marina with a launch event which was attended by major business figures from across the region.

The global ‘Big Four’ firm has established an office at Marina Court on Castle Street.

The firm, which has links with Hull dating back to the early 1900s, previously had a base on Lowgate in Hull.

The launch event was attended by clients, entrepreneurs and intermediaries.

Ernst & Young employs 350 people in Yorkshire, across two offices in Leeds and Hull. The move to the new office in Hull, which has 35 staff, is part of the firm’s wider investment plans in the region.

Yorkshire senior partner David Buckley said: “We are investing in Yorkshire; our move marks our commitment to the local market.

“Hull has a strong manufacturing and commercial heritage, which has supported long-standing, successful businesses, and has provided a stable platform for future prosperity in sectors such as renewables. The office delivers a modern environment for our people and clients in a central location, overlooking the marina.”

Altogether, Ernst & Young, which is headquartered in London, employs 167,000 staff. It has 695 offices in 140 countries and was founded in 1989 through the merger of Ernst & Whinney and Arthur Young & Co. It can trace its roots back to 1849.
