The main construction work of Sandersons, part of the Fox Valley development in Stocksbridge, is now complete, with internal works - including the installation of a glass lift - beginning in the next fortnight.

It will feature a range of high-end brands including Ted Baker and Joules when it opens on September 8, and create 30 new jobs.

Sandersons’ Deborah Holmes said: “It’s a fantastic space with some great natural light and it will definitely have the wow factor.”

The department store will join companies including Aldi, which is planning its biggest store in the region, Full Gas Bikes and Ponti’s Italian Kitchen at Fox Valley. The development, next to a new housing site that will include 118 executive homes, is being marketed as a new “town centre” with a 600-space car park and high-spec office space, on a 28-acre former steelworks.
