BP head of efficiency to share insight at lecture

The woman tasked with overhauling efficiency at one of the world’s largest companies is one of the prominent figures appearing at Leeds Beckett University’s upcoming guest lecture series.

Kirsty Bashforth, group head of operational effectiveness at BP, has joined the Leeds Business School lecture series, which runs until May 2015.

Ms Bashforth, who has worked for BP for 23 years in both the UK and overseas, will examine the role of women and the way it has changed when she presents at the university’s City Campus on May 5.

Will Holman, deputy agent for the Bank of England in Yorkshire and Humber, will kick off lectures on Tuesday January 13 with a look at current global economic development and uncertainty.

The free lecture series, sponsored by Yorkshire Bank and open to the public, aims to give an insight into the biggest issues in business and economics here and abroad.

Paul Houghton, principal lecturer in Leeds Beckett’s Faculty of Business and Law and organiser of the lecture series, said: “Every year, we have a high calibre of speakers and the 2015 winter and spring line-up will not disappoint.

“We have a wealth of speakers from diverse backgrounds and I am really looking forward to hearing them share their experiences and inspiring stories with us.”

Sara and Andy Micklethwaite, the team behind Bagel Nash, will share their journey of brand development, marketing promotion, product and service excellence at their session on April 21.

Professor Dean Fathers, chair of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust; Chris Clements, partner at chartered accountants Grant Thornton and Dominic Tweddle, director general of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, are also part of the line-up.

Each session ends with a question and answer session, allowing audience members to get involved in the speakers’ sessions.
