Brandon aims to light the way in research project

A YORKSHIRE-based medical lighting firm is taking part in a research project which will help the environment and save money.

Leeds-based Brandon Medical has won 1m euros of research funding from the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme. Brandon Medical will use the funding to lead a collaborative research consortium to develop lighting systems for health care buildings.

The funding has been awarded for the High Efficiency and Rendered Colour Using LED Solid State Lighting system – which is called Hercules for short. The Hercules project aims to produce energy efficient lighting systems. It started in January and is expected to take two years to complete.
