Brulines moves to next Level with buy

A company that stops pub owners being ripped off has made a key acquisition with help from Yorkshire advisers.

Brulines, which is based in Stockton-on-Tees, supplies beer monitoring systems to pubs across the UK.

The company's products measure the volume of beer dispensed each hour against deliveries, which protects pub owners from fraud.

Yesterday Brulines Group announce that it had agreed to acquire Energy Level Systems (ELS) from Astoncrest Consultants.

Before the completion of the acquisition, ELS will acquire the tank lining, liquefied petroleum gas and forecourt services businesses of Graphite UK, which is also based in Market Harborough.

Richard Quarmby, majority shareholder of Astoncrest and former vice president of Torex's petrol and convenience division, will join Brulines' forecourt service division as business development director, reporting to Phil Maud, the managing director.

Brulines said it aimed to become a market leader in the provision of telemetry, data management, analysis, and associated software and support services to the petrol forecourt sector.

James Dickson, the chief executive of Brulines, said the acquisition underlined the company's intention to replicate in the forecourt market its success in the leisure sector.

He added: "I am delighted that Richard is joining the team, bringing a wealth of experience in the forecourt indus- try.

"Richard's knowledge and expertise will prove invaluable as we continue to expand our presence in the UK petrol forecourt market and beyond."

Brulines was advised on the acquisition by Peter Barton and Jonathan Asquez of law firm Gordons, which has offices in Leeds and Bradford.

Brulines provides an "information gateway" in thousands of British pubs.

One of its best known products is Brand Quality Monitoring, which scrutinises drinks which are being served at the bar – measuring volume, temperature and flow rate to ensure customers are satisfied.

Brulines made its debut on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in 2006.
