Cake walk to Europe and the US

Exquisite Handmade Cakes, which is Leeds-based, is investigating exporting products to Europe and the United States, as it celebrates its eighth birthday.

The company, which employs 31 staff at its bakery in Kirkstall and was founded by Viv Parry in 2004, now makes over 12,000 cakes a week. When she started Exquisite in 2004, it employed four people, made around 100 cakes a week and had an annual turnover of around £100,000.

Today, Exquisite achieves a monthly turnover of more than £100,000. Exquisite supplies customers including contract caterers, schools and hotels via a network of distributors, as well as a ‘food to go’ range direct to Jet 2, Grand Central Railways and First Hull Trains. It is looking to increase its direct sales to consumers.
